And now for a commercial break...
You all know The Giddys, right? Well, if you like comic books, too, Mr. Giddy (a.k.a. Ryan Winn) just inked Grant Morrison and David Finch's Batman: the Return. Go pick up a copy while you're out, won't you? I don't know much about comics, but I do know this is GORGEOUS.
Save the Actors!
Seriously no pressure, but if you own a business and are looking for cheap-ish advertising, the Acme has started up a "Sponsor an Actor" program. Kind of like the "Feed the Starving Children" programs, but with more funny.
For $495 (which breaks down to $41.25 a month), you can sponsor me and in return, you get your name, one line of promotional information, and a website address and/or phone number in every program the Acme hands out AND on their website (www.acmecomedy.com) for a year. Contact dan.kane [at] acmecomedy.com for more info.

Stitches on BET
Three years ago, a very talented director named Pamela K. Johnson decided to go to AFI and film a little short she created about Hurricane Katrina called Stitches.
The funny things about these student projects is that you have such a great time doing them, you completely fall in love with your cast and crew, and then more times than not, it disappears into the ether without so much as a VHS copy to keep you company in the long, lonely nights.

Not so the case with Stitches. Right off the bat, it was being accepted to film festivals all over the country and garnering all sorts of praise. It seemed like every month, someone was discovering it and screening it proudly.
But as the years passed, things quieted down, as these things do. Then out of the blue, I see a post on Facebook from Gabi Rojas.
Stitches was on BET.
How cool is that? And now, through the magic of the internet, you can watch the whole movie streaming online.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Crash the Super Bowl
Doritos and Pepsi issued a challenge. For a grand prize of $1,000,000, come up with a thirty second commercial.
To which, my buddies and I said "why the heck not"?
Click here to catch Sock Zombies Like Doritos, Too!

(you'll have to click through their intro page, but have patience! You'll get there!)
The concept for the commercial came from the genius brain of Joe Purcell (a.k.a. the guy behind The Fall of Paul). The Sock Zombie was created by Erin Glaser (and if you want a cuddly, undead friend of your very own, check out her website http://sockzombie.com/. Actually, you should just check out her website just because. It's pretty genius.) And joining us as puppeteers was the fantastically talented team of April Warren and Erik Kuska, who were ready and willing to leap into probably the most uncomfortable puppet set ever constructed in the history of man and make some magic.

And magic, they did make.
